mohi.app is a digital platform designed to bring structure and personal depth to online content sharing, focusing on Slow Media rather than the fast-paced, attention-driven nature of traditional social apps. It allows users to collect, organize, and share meaningful content—articles, books, films, and more—with their inner circle, creating more authentic, intentional and personal digital spaces.

MoHi’s Core Values
We promote a slow-media experience that encourages thoughtful posting and intentional consumption
We empower users to archive and structure their content for easy access and lasting value
We enable users to highlight their favorite recommendations through a Monthly Highlight
We strengthen personal connections by facilitating the sharing of trusted and heartfelt recommendations
Challenges & Opportunities
During beta testing, MoHi encountered three key challenges that affected user engagement and the app’s overall experience. My role was to analyze these issues, identify opportunities, and propose solutions that aligned with MoHi’s core values.
Lack of incentive to share
Users didn’t feel a strong reason to post on MoHi instead of using familiar platforms like WhatsApp or Facebook.
Limited personalization
Users wanted to filter and explore content based on their personal interests, but MoHi lacked customization options.
Unstructured content organization
The app didn’t provide a clear way to archive and manage saved content, making it difficult for users to revisit recommendations.
Project Goals
The primary goals of this redesign were centered around improving user engagement, creating personalized experiences, and reinforcing MoHi’s core mission of promoting Slow Media.
Change the incentive to share
Create a compelling incentive for users to share content on MoHi, making the platform feel valuable and worth interacting with. The goal was to encourage users to post more recommendations by enhancing the visibility and impact of their posts.
Create personal spaces
Implement features that allow users to customize their experience based on interests, categories, and preferences. This would make MoHi feel more personal and relevant, motivating users to explore and interact with content that truly resonates with them.
View & discover new content
Introduce a more structured and intuitive way to collect, archive, and view content. This would make it easier for users to manage their recommendations and revisit content in a meaningful way.
Reinforce the Slow Media Experience
Ensure that the app’s design and functionality align with MoHi’s mission of providing a more thoughtful and deliberate way to consume media, contrasting with the fast, distraction-driven approach of traditional social media.
Redesign I
Enhancing the core value ‘Slow Media’ & recommendations
After uncovering through user interviews that the original ‘Following’-feed still felt too fast and cluttered, I mapped out the key pain points: confusing tabs, an unused filter bar, and no way to discover the mediums users liked. I wrote these insights into clear design goals to give each recommendation room to breathe.
From there I changed the main user navigation with emphasis on Monthly Highlights and personal profiles. The old menu placed an emphasis on ‘Saved for later’, while this collection can be put in the personal user space.
The new redesign takes the Monthly Highlights from the main feed, and gives more meaning to the best recommendations from other users. In this new design I also replaced the three filter options with better contextual options to enhance personalized Slow Media, and promote better discovery in user feeds.

Redesign II
Creating personal spaces for every user
Beyond sharing monthly highlights, one of MoHi’s core values is giving users a space to archive and collect content meaningfully. In the original design, this goal was undermined by a fragmented experience: users had to navigate across three different screens to view their own content, with little structure or clarity in how posts were presented.
The redesigned personal collection consolidates everything into one organized space. Users can now view their grouped posts, monthly highlights, and saved content all in one place. This new page is more focused on the personal profile as a user, rather than a singular collection screen.
Users are able to group their individual posts in a collection, highlighting the core mission of organizing content. The design avoids the clutter of a single long feed and gives users better control over how they manage and revisit their own curated content. This streamlined structure directly supports MoHi’s vision of archiving and personal curation, turning the profile into a functional, personal archive rather than just a passive record.

Redesign III
Changing primary actions & viewing of ‘Monthly Highlights’
Monthly Highlights are central to the MoHi experience, yet in the original design they were not given the visibility or priority they deserved. Posting and browsing highlights were buried within the global ‘following’ or ‘discovery’ interface, making it harder for users to engage with one of the app’s core functions.
In the redesign, the ‘saved for later’ is replaced with a separate ‘Monthly Highlight’-tab. This change puts the vision and mission of MoHi in a more prominent position within the main navigation, signaling its importance and encouraging consistent use.
By consolidating all Monthly Highlights into a single, dedicated space, the primary interaction has also been improved; viewing highlights from other users is now a clear, standalone action, free from surrounding distractions. This not only simplifies navigation but also reinforces the value of sharing and discovering thoughtful recommendations.

Redesign IV
Give meaning to recommendations & incentives to stay connected
A major pain point uncovered during beta testing was the lack of visibility to other users; users felt their posts weren’t being seen, and with limited connections, there was little motivation to share. The small circle of interaction made the app feel isolated, which directly impacted engagement and posting frequency.
To address this, the new redesign introduces a subtle but powerful solution: user suggestions. These are surfaced on key touchpoints, such as the home screen and immediately after following someone. By encouraging users to expand their network, MoHi helps grow each user’s circle organically.
As connections increase, so does the likelihood that posts are seen, valued, and interacted with. This will give users a stronger sense of presence and purpose within the platform. This reinforcement loop ultimately supports long-term engagement and more frequent, meaningful sharing.
